Hi all,
I tried to do a bunch of research to figure this out on my own, but it looks like I need to ask it here:
My wife and I are Canadians in the US living on TNs. We are both interested in going for Green Cards, and both of our employers are willing to sponsor us.
Her employee is willing to pay for all expenses and do all the paperwork (and first transfer her to an H-1B), while mine is only willing to pay for the PERM, does not need me to transfer to an H-1B first, and wants me to do most of the paperwork myself (whatever Im allowed to do).
So I have two options:
1. Do I do my own EB3 based sponsorship through my own work, pay a lot of the fees myself, and stay on TN the whole time. (At the same time, my wife would be doing her own EB3 as well).
Or
2. Wait until my wife becomes current (probably 7-8 years from now) and then file my own I-485 to "piggy-back" on her Green Card process?
Would option 2 be any slower than option 1? How much cheaper would option 2 be?
Or either of these options significantly more difficult than the other? I dont think the PERM process sounds that difficult...
Thank you all for this awesome forum!
Thanks.
Im not an expert, but I would personally do both just to be safe....after all what happens if one of you loses your job?
Do both if you can.
Are you sure that neither of you could get EB2?
Two choices: Do my own EB3 sponsorship at work, or tag along on wifes EB3 sponsorship?
