Hello,

I became an US citizen about 2 weeks ago and I want to bring my dad over to the States, so I have a few questions I was hoping someone here could answer.

When I was born, both my parents were married, and my birth certificate shows that. However, two years after my birth they got divorced. My dad got remarried and my mom didnt.

Based on the information on the USCIS website, I need:

* Form I-130
* A copy of your birth certificate showing your name and the names of both parents
* A copy of your Certificate of Naturalization or Citizenship or U.S. passport if you were not born in the United States
* A copy of your parents’ civil marriage certificate

I have all that, but do those requirements apply only if my parents are still married? In other words, do I have to bring their divorce certificate as well? What about my dads marriage certificate with his current wife?

Also, since my parents got divorced when I was at such a young age, will they ask for evidence that an emotional or financial bond existed between me and my father before I reached the age of 21? My dad was around when I was young, but I really dont have way of proving that. He would give me clothes, money for food, and toys in Christmas, but its not like I saved all the receipts

Read INA 101(b)(1)(A) for the definition of child. You were born in wedlock, so your father is your father for immigration purposes.
