Immigration Site

Im currently out-of-status. Basically to make long story short, I was robbed at a gun point today at my college so I was involved with the police department all day. Im worried because of my status. They didnt really question things like that but I had to fill out police statement and had to be interview for the crime I was victimized with at the police station. They asked for my SS# and ID but I obviously dont have them. I told them I dont have it at the moment but they might ask for it again when they meet with me few days later. My question is, do they have the rights to pursue prosecution of my status because this happened? I mean, I was just a victim of a crime and had to be involved with them unluckily. Also, if I confess during any point of the investigation, would they arrest me?

You dont have a foreign passport? Theyll want some kind of ID so they can properly record the statements you made, in case they bring the robber to court. Otherwise what you said might become the equivalent of an anonymous tip and thus carry less weight or be unusable in court.

and yes, I do have a foreign passport. my lawyer is about to submit my GC papers very soon (bc i got married to a US citizen recently). So I guess it would be a good idea to have that submitted with more urgency now? From what I understand, Id be protected for the meantime if my status is pending.. but Im just worried between the time period of my papers being submitted and police investigating the crime and questioning me
