Thanks for all the help in the past.
I have 2 kids from a previous relationship who are living in a foreign country.
On the instruction for the i-130, where it says "What Documents Do You Need
to Prove Family Relationship" I fall under #4. A child born out of wedlock and im
the father.
My name isnt on their birthday due to me not being there at the time. I have the
affidavit that im their father, i provide financial support (wired money) and we
visit back and forth.
The kids are ages 17 and 15.
What kinds of evidence can i use to show our relationship. I do have pictures of
us together during visits. all our communications have been via phone and most
recently facebook. So there isnt much tangible evidence that im in their lives
other than people who can vouch for it.
What kinds of evidence do they look for?
Thanks.
Do you have evidence of having wired money to them for several years?
Do your pictures with you and them together span over several years, so they are seen at different ages?
Did they use a tourist visa to visit you in the US since you got your green card? If yes, did they list you as their father on the visa application?
Is it possible to get an updated birth certificate for them with your name on it?
If the consulate is unsatisfied with your evidence, theyll ask you to take a DNA test with them to establish paternity. Or you can proactively take the DNA test and submit the results with the I-130.
If your finances allow, you can get paternity (DNA) testing to prove that you are their father.
This will bury any doubts for good.
Good luck.
At the time of birth of BOTH your kids, you were not present?
