Does sponsoring relative need to be present for parents green card interview?

Hi Guys, the title is pretty much the question. I havent found a conclusive answer after googling this. This is a theoretical question, since I dont know if my parents will get an interview or not (AOS), but Im planning some trips during a time where such an interview could be a possibility. The generic interview letter that some people get is worded as follows:

- If your eligibility is based on your marriage, your husband or wife must come with you to the interview
- if you do not speak english fluently, you should bring an interpreter
- Your attorney or authorized representative may come with you to the interview
- if your eligibility is based on a parent/child relationship and the child is a minor, the petitioning parent and the child must appear for the interview

It is not madatory but it will always be beneficial to the case if you are present. If you cannot make it, then you cannot make it.

But there is no mention if the sponsoring relative (son) for their parents has to/should attend.

Thanks for the thoughts Triple Citizen. I hear you.

Does someone have any experiences with this? Is there actually any documented case of a parent being denied a GC?
Trying to get a feel for just how important this is...

My Husband and I had an interview yesterday. We are being sponsored by our USC daughter. The officer was not happy that she was not present, and said that they generally prefer the petitioner to be present. However, he did proceed with the interview, and our online status has now changed to card production, although he did not tell us at the time that we were approved. He did however, telephone our daughter and ask her if she had signed the papers, and a few family related questions ( parents birthdays and such ).
