question - obtaining certificate of US citizenship (meaning the paper itself for already-citizen)

i want to ask my sponsor to provide me with his certificate of US citizenship paper (of course he is already a US citizen) but my understanding is that, you have to apply to get the paper itself?

there seems to be many websites online that makes themselves seem like they provide legitimate certificate but i also heard that not all of them are accepted for legal purposes (such as GC process), so i need to find out where i can tell my sponsor to get his citizenship paper.

Did you ask him for a copy?

Did your sponsor get Citizenship through his parents?
Was he Naturalized?
Did he lose his certificate?

Did he lose his certificate? He was born in US.
Not sure if he lost his certificate
If he didnt lose it, am I allow to just simply make a photocopy? or dont I need a certified copy?
If I need the certified copy (or if he had lost it), I need to know where he can apply for one.

Certificates of Citizenship are for people born in other countries who claim citizenship through their parents either at birth or after birth due to the parent(s) naturalization.

A person born in the U.S. just produces a U.S. birth certificate.
