GC application in progress, currently on H1B -- can I switch jobs?

I have been on H1-B for over two years now. I got married to a USC a month ago and we submitted our application. I am having my biometrics appointment in a couple of days.

But I got a job offer, way better than what I have now. Can I accept that offer?

I assume you applied for Employment Authorisation (EAD card) as part of your application. You have to wait til you receive the EAD card before you can change jobs - should we with you between 60-90 days from the time you sent the app.

Even going out of status, overstay, and unauthorised employment is all forgiven for a person married to a USC provided one has a legal entry, which you do have.
Go right ahead.

Than you both for the replies.

NikosF - yes, employment authorization was included in the packet. I hope it comes sooner than 90 days :S

namecheckvictim - that sounds good. But Im a little bit worried on how the new employer would go about the process, since I do not have a work authorization (yet).
