is it mandatory to go vfs office before interview in family immigration?petioner paid all visa fee at nvc. and original paperwork except passport clearance, medical, and passport are sent to nvc. nvc visal letter doent say about going vfs office before interview at mumbai embassy. beneficially is living in surat. does she really need to go vfs office? is it mandatory?
yes it is! i asked this question few days back as well but did not get any answer. Basically the NVC folks know nothing about Indias process and US COnsulate in India has website full of broken links. Then i ran into VFS. I called there and verified... the amount for immigrant visa (for my parents) is Rs.387/- and it is called Courrier Fee.
oh one more thing i just remembered. The VFS guy told me that it is strongly recomended to go to VFS before interview. But, if you dont, it is not end of the world... coz then US COnsulate will give you something called blue token which you will have to take back to VFS toi submit money.

is it OK if i pay the amount Rs387/- at vfs and carry all my document with me for visa interview at Bombay? the problem is, i am running little late for passport clearance because of all holidays and bureaucracy of Surat police even though my record is absolutely clear.
