Hi Everyone,

I got married in Pakistan and brought my spouse in USA. We got divorce from the Federal/Circuit Family Court in USA later, when we were both US permanent residents. I remarried again and when I applied for my wife; the consular officer in Islamabad told me that they need Divorce Certificate from Pakistan not from US as the ex-marriage was conducted in Pakistan. Can someone tell me is this true or else?

The visa officer gave you horse manure of an answer. The State Dept recognize the divorce decree issued here in the US, unless hes now following Pakistani law in order to screw with you. The decree you have is acceptable. However, I have questions which the visa officer has in his mind:

How did you obtain your green card? How long ago did you obtain and sponsor your ex-wife? How long where you married to the woman you brought from Pakistani and divorced here in the US? Did you have any kids with the ex-wife?

With the new wife, is she from Pakistan? I assume she because you are requesting a visa in Pakistan? How long have you been divorced from the first wife?

It is possible US officials might suspect that you are running an immigration scheme, marry these women from Pakistan and divorce in the US after they get a green card, and you go back to marry again and seek to sponsor them for a green card. Are you now a USC or still a permanent resident? How far along before you become a USC? I am speculating on what might be the reasons or concerns, but I could be completely wrong.
