Abandonment of immigration process

My wife (US citizen) and I have been jumping through the last hoops of our immigration process; Ive received my employment authorization card, but not my green card as of yet.

However, due to professional reasons, we immediately (within the next two weeks) want and have to leave the country for good and need to abandon the immigration process. I was wondering if someone could tell me how to do just that? Will a letter to USCIS suffice? They took my white I-94 arrival slip when I had my immigration interview, so will that become an issue when I leave the country and have to give the slip to the airline?

Thanks a lot for any help!

Call the USCIS office or contact your attorney if you have one. You can make an appointment with USCIS online and ask for procedure and follow that as instructed. It will put you in a position to apply in future.
