Six months to cover all requirements. Then you need to stay in the US for at least 6 months before traveling again.
I am assuming we are not utilising a re-entry permit here.

Im not sure what a re-entry permit is, but Im gonna say no. I have a two year green card. Im just wondering after Im granted my 10 year card, is it possible to look for a job outside the USA, and be able to come in and out after certain periods of time
Employment outside the US (other than short-term contract work) for a non-US company is grounds for revoking your green card for abandonment of residence.
