I am a December filer, living in Virginia. I have my interview coming up in April. I wanted to get my licenses switched to my address with my wifes address. Virginias governor changed the law back in September 2010 to prevent Virginia residents from obtaining a drivers license solely with a EAD card. I thought I could use my I-485 receipt along with my EAD card to show legal presence. I called DMV and they say that it is not on their list. Has anyone bothered to try to get a drivers license with it? Or Should I just wait for the interview? My drivers license it still good until May, but it would be nice to get the address changed and for it to be extended.

"USCIS form I-797 displaying applicant’s name (Depending on the purpose and nature of the form, the I-797 may not be accepted.)" [This may be OK for proof of legal presence--a reciept for an application for adjustment of status is printed on an I-797 and should be accepted.]
The unexpired EAD is good as a photo ID for proof of identity.
I just went to Charlottesville DMV today and was able to renew my drivers license with I-797 and my new EAD card.
Awesome, thanks for the info! I am in Charlottesville, too. Which DMV did you go to?
VIRGINIA filers: Were you able to get a drivers license with the EAD work permit?
