I am Latvian citizen, residing in Ireland for the last 5 years. My sister is US citizen, i have visited her once. The question is: is it possible to move and live in America? I know thats a long process, about 10 years waiting time, but i was wondering if there any chances to go to US as a visitor and then change status while applying and waiting? I will appreciate any good advises. Thanks.
Only if you have a dual intent work visa will you be able to spend any time in the US before your GC priority date permits you and her to continue the process.
You cannot shortcut the system and break into the very long line of people in similar situations. You just have to wait your turn - if the US immigration requirements do not change in the meantime.
Once she files, you no longer qualify for a B2 (visit) visa since you have demonstrated immigrant intent.
The faster way to a GC is through employer sponsorship. If you qualify for H1B or L1, look at that route.

It is not impossible to obtain a B tourist visa with an I-130 pending as a sibling exactly BECAUSE it will take so long. You just have to be clear that any visit is merely a visit. You could not file to adjust status once falling out of status and visitors only get a maximum of 6 months.
Thank you for your replies, really appreciate it. My sister is going to apply for GC for my mother first and as far as i know it is much faster to be approved than in my case. If my mother gets her GC for example in 1 year, could she apply for me as unmarried daughter over 21 y.o.? Whould that be a faster way?
