Hello Im very happy to have found this amazing resource. I have found answers to many of my questions but I still have some uncleared ones. Ill explain my situation. I recently got married and the marriage license should be in the mail by tomorrow. Im ready to start the process but I still have questions of all the forms i need to send. I came to this country when I was 12 (now 18) with my family with an R Class R2. The visa was given for 3 years but I overstayed. Do you think its necessary to pay a lawyer to do all the paperwork or I can do it myself?
Are these all the forms I need ?
i130 - along with G-325a for both my wife and Me
i-485 - Green Card
i765 - Employment Form
i-864 - Sponsor Form
i-131- Travel Document ? is this only If the person is outside the U.S ??
Im sorry for all the questions I just want to make everything right wouldnt hurt asking.
Thanks
EinerMart
Did you marry a US citizen?

You already got the marriage license before getting married. The marriage certificate is what will be delivered to you later.

The I-131 form is used to apply for Advance Parole, which is for applicants who want to travel outside the US while the I-485 is pending. But even if its approved, you wont be able to use it if you have overstayed for 180 days (or more) past your 18th birthday. So dont bother applying for it unless you are younger than 18 years + 180 days.
You left out the I-693 medical. You need to make an appointment (actually 2 appointments -- one long appointment, plus a shorter follow-up a few days later) with a designated civil surgeon to take care of it.
Thank You so much for all the helpful info.

Yeah She is an American Citizen.

Dont I have to wait for Immigration to tell me when to do it ??
Also When I send the i-130 do i wait to send the 1-485 or I send all the forms in one whole package ?
Thanks
Just send all the forms in one package. As Jackolantern said, it is pointless for you to apply the I-131 because you cannot use it. You have overstayed by more than 180 days and if you leave the country before you receive the GC, you will be barred from entry.
You need to do the medical(I-693), otherwise you will receive a request for evidence(RFE) which will slow down the processing of your case. The forms that you need to file are I-130, I-485, I-765, G-325A x2, I-864 and I-693.
Hope that helps
You can do all the paperwork alone unless you have extra money to throw at a lawyer. My rule of thumb is use a lawyer if you have a complicated case
