My wife is on G-4 visa status here in the US: Employee of an international organization.
According to the instructions to the I-485 it says that aliens on A,G, or NATO visas cant adjust UNLESS they file a I-566 and I-508. The I-566 is called an inter-agency form which is used for aliens switching to/form A,G, or NATO status. The I-508 was a waiver that she needed to sign to explain she understand if she had an immunities it could be loss when changing to LPR status.
Now, will our I-130/I-485 application package take longer to process since we had to include the I-566 and I-508?
Now, will our I-130/I-485 application package take longer to process since we had to include the I-566 and I-508? I dont know. But you dont have a choice. You have to file those forms. If it makes the process take massively longer, cross that bridge when you get there. If you are still sitting and waiting this time next year, we can offer suggestions for pushing them to complete the processing.

No it wont take longer. I did it two years ago and it went through the normal time frame.
Regarding the I-508; my situation may be in reverse: I am an American. My wife is a foreign national. At the time of our marriage in the US, my wife was working for a UN agency out of the country. When she returned to her home country, after our marriage, her 10-year year travel visa to the US was immediately canceled due to her/our pending permanent residency application. It took about two years for her to finally receive her Green Card. By this time; we determined that it would not be wise for her to leave her UN-job solely to fulfill her US residency requirment. So, she has been traveling back and forth to the US as often as possible to maintain her residency requirments, etc. Since shes still with the same UN agency; were wondering if the I-508 form will help us in some way?
