what is police clearance? do I need it for green card application?

I am canadian, working at u.s. for 3 years, now married to a u.s. citizen. I am not sure about the concept of police clearance. Do we need this for green card application?

If you apply for adjustment of status in the U.S. you will be fingerprinted. That should suffice for a Canadian. The instructions to form I-485 addresses the issue further at: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-485instr.pdf

If you have a Canadian Record and need to get documentation see: http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fe....html?cid=3531

Thank you Bigjoe5 for your quick answer.

I had been worked at u.s. before. But I back to canada last year for a while. I met my current husband by internet, then I met him at u.s as a tourist, we visited each other between canada and u.s., Now we got married at u.s. and plan to apply for green card. My status now is marrying u.s. citizen as a canadian tourist. ( is it a problem for applying for green card?)

Do I need fingerprint for I-485 application? if so, where should I do for it? I did fingerprint in canada 5-6 years ago when I applied to be a canadian citizen, if that fingerprint still work, how can I get such document from canada?

You dont ned to submit a document with your fingerprints. When you apply for a AOS to get a greencard, you would get a letter requesting you to go to one of the USCIS offices (normally one near you) to go and have your Biometics taken as part of the proccess. So dont worry about looking that document.
