Wife just filed the petition for me!

Hello everyone. I just have a quick question. Well my wife just recently filed a petition for me so I can get a work permit, green card, ss# and etc.

Now my question is, What is next after filing?

My lawyer said I have to wait for the Immigration to send me a receipt? (Im confused)

How long will I have to wait to receive a mail from the Immigration for my Fingerprints and to take a Picture?

When will I get my work permit? I know approximately 90 days but some people gets it earlier than 90 days.

Thanks.

Dude,

Congrats on sending the paperwork. What exactly did your wife file on your behalf? Do you know the forms by classification, for I-130, I-485 and so forth?

She filed for a greencard for you, NOT US citizenship. Under no circumstances should you claim US citizenship in writing, in person to a law enforcement or in applying for any employment. If this petition is approved, you will be a Legal Permanent Resident, also known as greencard holder. Timeline is like weather patterns, it could be quick as soon as 10 days or more. Once they cash your check, then they will mail you a Notice of Action (NOA-797C) acknowledging receipt of the applications and how they intend to process them. FP notice will appear in couple of days or weeks, and you will be required to appear in person with your wife for an interview.

My advice, drink a lot of patience because immigration requires a lot.
