CR1 Administrative Processing

I am married to a US citizen and had my CR1 interview yesterday at the American Embassy. The interview went very well. After the interview the Consular said he has to do background check and will call me within one week. He kept all my documents including passport. In the paper he gave me, it says "Administrative Processing". I am wondering whether this is part of the normal process or I am being subjected to further scrutiny. When I check over the internet, there are people saying administrative process takes minimum of 45 days. Please share your thoughts and experiences with me. Thanks in advance.

What is your citizenship and which US consulate was it?

It was at the American Embassy in New Delhi, India. I hold Indian passport.

Basically the consulate is not ready to make a final determination on your case. It seems your background check has not come through. It is also possible that the consulate wants to ensure that your relationship with the sponsor is genuine. That is why I asked for your citizenship and the consulate. You ended up at a "difficult" consulate. Hopefully, whatever it is, will be wrapped up real soon and you will get your immigrant visa.

Perhaps they just want to know your connection to Linda Lovelace
