Hi,
I am on H1b and my wife is a USC we are filling for Permanent Residency. I am trying to fill the form I 485 and saw Part 3-c

List your present and past membership in or affiliation with every organization, association, fund, foundation, party, club, society or similar group
in the United States or in other places since your 16th birthday. Include any foreign military service in this part. If none, write "none." Include the
name(s) of organization(s), location(s), dates of membership, from and to, and the nature of the organization(s). If additional space is needed, use a
separate piece of paper.

My question is that I have been in the U.S since 2001 and I am trying to account for all organizations (library, University clubs etc. ) however the dates on them may not be accurate (off by few months). Is that acceptable

As far as companies and University goes the data is accurate.
Do I need to get precise dates for the rest. ?
Can we submit (month and year or do they require precise date as well ?)

no worries,as long as its not the KKK, or any communist party..they dont care how long youve been with IEEE etc. just put rough dates.

Some people even mention their membership to Costco and Sams Club
I listed membership to NASIOC and BMWOC on my N-400, but what they are really looking out for is things like KKK, etc.
