Timeline for the transfered I-130 (to California Service Center)

FYI.

My I-130 petition got transfered from Nebraska Service Center to Calfironia Service Center on October 5, 2005. I just got an email from USCIS yesterday (February 16, 2006) that the petition was approved. So it took about 4.5 months to process.

My I-130 peptition was filed in 2002 and upgraded in August 2005 after becoming a USC. Phoned USCIS to upgrade in August 2005 and the file got transferred in October 2005.

Hello "Big Cake"
Im soooo happy for you!! Thats wonderful news! I know u must be so relieved.
Im here waiting to hear from California. I filed an I130 in April 2005, I called USCIS to upgrade it on Nov.3, 2005. I sent in my Nat. Cert. several times. I havent heard anything yet, but noticed that they "touched" the file twice last week and twice this week. I dont know whats happening.

When u upgrade, do they process your case from the date you requested the upgrade, or do they process your case from the date you originally filed your application when u were an LPR.

Im wondering how much longer I have to wait for the upgrade-its been almost 4 months.

Thanks in advance for your time and Im sooo happy for you.

I am not 100% sure which priority date they use but here is a related story.

In November 2005, one month after they transfered my case to CSC, I called the customer service center to see why I had not received the approval. The lady first told me that because my case entered CSCs process in October and they were processing the cases filed in Febuary (or March) so I should not be expecting anything soon. She was not even going to send an inquery to CSC. I was shocked but told her calmly that I filed the petition in 2002 as a LPR. "Shouldnt my priority date 4/2002, not 10/2005?" She paused a second (probably looked up my record or something) and agreed with me. She then sent an inquery to CSC asking for the reasons for delay.

Well, so maybe the prority date is the date when you first filed it. But who knows. The response to my inquery was, what else, "SECURITY CHECK and contact us again after 6 months." I pretty much gave it up and tried to focus on something else. I am glad the wait for I-130 is finally over. (Well, still need to wait for I-485, interview, etc.)

Wish you good luck.

Ok-thank you for the insight!! Take care and all the best to you.
