Hi ALL,
I am confused about what is my status now?.Now i got my EAD and AP and I am going use my EAD instead of my H-1b.My AOS is pending due to name check. When I was trying to fill up some forms for Fiancial Aid, they asking for my status,Am I permanent resident?or H-1b?.What should I tell them my status is?As there is no one who understands "AOS Pending".I am trying to get into college and I dont know if I am considered as an International student. Please suggest.Thank you
I think u shud say permanent resident. One more thing,I believe it doesnt matter whether u r H1-B or GC,if u have stayed in the state for 2 years,u become a resident of the state. So u dont have to pay the fees for an international student.
tapskap,
Thank you for your reply.I think you are right about state residency for 1 or 2 years for tuition fees, but i was worried about other things like fin aid and scholarships which are jsut for GC holders or US citizens.I just dont want lose any opputunity becos of this Pending AOS.
You should check with your school, every school is different. To say that you are a permanent resident for tuition matters varies from school to school, so check that with your scholars first.
And since you started work with your EAD, you are not longer on H-1B, you are in adjustment of status and it doesnt mean that you are a permanent resident.
Good luck,
What is my status now?
