Marrying an Australian Citizen
Hi all,
I have my GC and I am marrying somebody who has australian citizenship. She currently resides in Australia. Does anybody knows whats the best possible way to bring her here. Whats the normal time for an Australian Citizen to get her GC, if I file her GC after marriage.

Your spouse will come under F2A preference category which is backlogged to August 2000. Expect it to take at least 4 years to get your wife a green card based on her marriage to you.
Once you obtain US citizenship she will not be subject to any quotas. In that case the processing time will be around 1 year.
Are there any hard and fast rules as to when its necessary to use a lawyer for spouse of a US citizen?
