I am a Canadian Citizen and I own a business here in the USA. I am not here on any Visa however.
I am engaged to a US Citizen woman and we plan on getting married anytime now. I know we can file for my papers once we are married....
Our problem is that we are planning on going to Canada for Xmas and are worried about me re-entering the USA after our vacation. Is there something we can file, or can we get married now and have some sort of legal way for me to re-enter the US after Xmas?
Would it be best to simply not do anything as of yet and not even mention any of this to customs apon arrival back to Florida as it may complicate things? (engagement, business owner)
Should I just say I am just going to Florida on vacation for a few weeks and once Im here take our time, get married and apply for all the paperwork?
Please help!
Peter
i didnt know canadians needed a visa in order to enter the US
What your essentialy doing is breakig the law if you lie!!! lying gets you no where!! As it is now, your breaking the law, owng a business in USA without the proper visa!! if ya get caught, you can kiss goodbye any chance of getting a visa!! I would contact a very good lawyer!!!
Canadians do not need a VISA to visit the US and I beleive can stay here for up to 6 months, but Ive been here longer.
As far as owning a business, I dont think you need a business visa to own a business in the US if you dont plan on living here. There are millions of companies in the US owned by foreign people and I doubt they all have applied for visas, they just invest in the USA.
I opened my corporation legally here in the US, using my Canadian Social Security number and pay all my company taxes using my companys EIN number that was issued.
