Hi everybody...My husband is USC and we submitted I485, I765 and I130 in september and had biometrics done today...
They said that in two or three months I will get an EAD... Does it mean that they accepted our petitions or is there any chance that later they tell us something was wrong in the forms???
We got an appointment for interview for February 2005 and they asked for somethings we have to bring...
1. All my passports mean??? ALL of them since I was born??? what happen if I just have the recent one and lost the others??? I left them in my country and have no idea where they could be...
2. Affidavit of support: me submitted it with the whole bunch for I485... do we have to do it again???
3. Medical: the same as 2
4. Joined accounts and properties... I need a SSN to open an account with my husband and they wont give me one until I have an EAD... and besides without EAD I cant work to get enough money to increase my husbands account...
5. Translations: the translations we submitted with the applications were not that accurate (I mean not literally translated). I brought the previous marriage and divorce certificates to the translator and he made it very simple without all the parafernalia used in Latin America... should we ask him to do it again, this time exactly as the paper says???
6. My husband did something similiar for his first wife when he was living in Latin America... but they divorced later and he never asked for a I 485 for her... is this a problem for me to get a GC through him???
7. We submitted all the forms by ourselves... we dont have a lawyer... is it better to hire and bring one to the interview???
8. Is that the real interview to accept or deny our case or just something to check if we have everything in order?

I see you have a lot of questions. I will answer only one for you. Dont get a lawyer. You dont really need one. Once everthing is ok with your paper work you should not have any problem. Getting a lawyer will not speed or make anything better. It is better to do it for on your own.

Only the passport you came with here in the USA. Ive never heard of somebody holding 2 international passports at one at the same time (exceps seamen who are requred to have a second passport)

Yes if the information has changed. Lets say - your husband swithed employers. If everythings the same - theres no need

In your case its not fatal.

I see other guys here follow the procedure "DO it yourself!!!!" so I really cant tell you. I myself had all my papers done by certified T But if your translator is certified you shouldnt have problems

However as far as I undertsand from your words., hes been married to another foreigner before and went through the same procedure with her. You ll most likely be questioned about your previous marriages. Since your husband is doing this for second time they will want him to give a genuine proof that hes not entered marriage with monetary motives!!!!

My advice to you is to have your translations NOTARIZED BY A NOTARY PUBLIC. You can find such a person at a Univeristy, bank, law office, etc.
My husband is Russian. We had a Russian University professor translate his birth certificate into English and then we had it notarized at the University Presidents office.
